We here at PcRivals decided to do a little research and below are the laptops that we found for very discounted prices.

Toshiba Satellite T2330 - Onyx Blue: Another laptop that rings in at $599.99, this Toshiba comes with all of the same features as the Compaq listed above, plus it weighs only 6 pounds and also has a double-layer DVD-RW/CD-RW for burning your own media on the go.
Everex StepNote NC1610: Only $498 this laptop comes with a 15.4″ LCD widescreen monitor, a 1.6 GHz Processor, 1gb of memory, an 80gb Hard Drive and Windows Vista Home Premium edition.
Acer Aspire 5315-2077: Another laptop with a nice price tag of only $498, this one has the 15.4″ LCD widescreen monitor, 1gb of memory, 160gb hard drive, wireless LAN and Vista Home Basic.
Dell Inspiron 1501-W81: Yet another laptop for $498 this one features a 2GHz AMD Sempron Processor, 1gb of memory, an 80gb hard drive and a HyperConnect wireless LAN.

i may need one in the future but dont want to spend lots of money on it.

steve here again, yes that is correct a laptop not for everyday use, but one to use say when the main comp breaks down.
